Tales Of A Fourth Generation Textile Executive: We Have A Big Macher!

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the Missouri Star 10 Year Birthday bash.  It was my first time in Hamilton, Missouri and it was super interesting.  The Jaftex Companies were platinum sponsors along with some other companies.  Our fun little event at our booth was to have consumers make pillows with 10×10 charms for a local women’s homeless shelter.  We had lots of fun and over 350 pillows (4 bags full) were made!  I even made like 10 all by myself…..hand sewn.

If you have a chance, you can go over to my @jaftexpresident Facebook page and see the FB live tour of the town and all the various fabric specific shops i.e. primitives, batiks, licensed, etc.  In addition, I did a FB Live interview with the one and only Rob Appell of Man Sewing.  What a cool dude!  We are both the same age and kind of on the same page.  I found him to be really personable, insightful, creative and full of lots of energy.  I am talking real energy.  So much so that when we were done I felt like I needed to step up my own game.  Maybe I need to start drinking coffee.

Anyway, the point of this blog is to induct Rob Appell to the Fabric Yenta’s big macher team.  If you don’t know what a big macher is, you can refer back to the first time I inducted a big macher (Pepper Cory).  Basically, macher is a yiddish term for a big shot.  Rob is definitely a big shot in the industry as are Pepper Cory & Hope Yoder up to this point. There are tons more that are yet to be inducted, but I have lots of years ahead of me.

Anyway, instead of writing a post about Rob, I thought I would share the Facebook Live video that we created together at the Man Sewing Shop in Hamilton.  Please enjoy and make sure your volume is not muted.

Here we go with the Fb Live at Missouri Star Quilt Co. with Rob Appell of Man Sewing. We are in the man cave hanging with the hubbies.
