I Can’t Believe This!
In the Summer of 2014, my family purchased Blank Quilting from the Blank family. The reason why the family chose to sell was because they had made some missteps that put them in a tricky financial position. As such, they were forced to either sell the company or file for bankruptcy. Fortunately for them, they didn’t have to file for bankruptcy and were actually able to get some money out of it.
When we purchased Blank, what was particularly appealing to me was the sales force that they had built. Unlike most of the competition, Blank had their own exclusive sales force i.e. a team of 20-30 individuals who were just selling the Blank line. When we bought the company, we were able to capitalize on this great asset. We continue to capitalize on it as we have developed these sales reps into selling machines where they now have a diversified product assortment to sell to US quilt shop owners. Currently these reps are selling all these lines:
- Blank
- Studioe
- FreeSpirit
- A.E. Nathan
- 3 Wishes
- Stof of Denmark
- Stof of France aka Le Quilt
- Sykel
- Oasis
- Air-lite Batting
- Hotfix Adhesive
That’s a little background on that deal. However, we have now owned the company for over 5 years and would you believe that there are still people out there that think the company is still owned by the Blank family? OMG, are you kidding me? Just the other day, one of my sales reps said to me that she still struggles to get over the hurdles of problems that existed under the previous regime. This is so frustrating to me and it is crazy to think that some shop owners are 5 years behind on the news. Please know that my family of companies under the Jaftex umbrella owns Henry Glass, Studioe, FreeSpirit, A.E. Nathan, Fabric Editions/3 Wishes and THE BLANK QUILTING CORP. TOO!
With that people, you also need to know that the Blank Quilting Corp. is a changed company for the better….new and much improved. And these changes are such old news by now, but I want to make sure I don’t leave anything out because I don’t want there to be any more confusion. All the problems of the past are old news. Whether there were issues with quality or delivery or whatever, those problems no longer exist.
Currently, Blank has a revamped design team with loads of new licensed designers. All the Blank fabrics are produced in the best Korean mills where all of our other fabrics are produced. All the fabrics are shipping from our G&S Warehouse where all of our other Jaftex fabrics are shipping from and the delivery performance is top notch. In fact, at the last quilt market, I heard from many customers and sales reps about how great our shipping is and how great our shipping rates are (that goes for all of our companies).
Now that I have set the record straight, I hope US shop owners can move past some very outdated news and give Blank the fair chance that they deserve. I promise that you will not be disappointed. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to set the record straight.
Have a great week!
