Throughout my years of writing and illustrating books for children, one of the most enjoyable parts of the process has always been developing fun, novelty components to awe young readers. It is this drive to develop that ‘wow’ factor that led me to create the Huggable and Loveable Collection with StudioE Fabrics where each sewable book kit has adorable detailing and personality! The team at StudioE Fabrics and I have invented sewing kits with fun stuffed tails, legs, ears, feet and more! The sky’s the limit! Beyond being cuddly and cute, toys with a sensory element to them aid in early childhood development and promote exploration.

One of the reasons I was originally drawn to StudioE Fabrics is because I simply love that this company really encourages self-expression, innovation and makes the creativity of their customers a priority. Making something with one’s own two hands and giving that as a gift to a little one in your life is so meaningful and says so much more than simply buying a gift in a store. It is the positive energy and love put into every stitch that makes these books so special and it is their sewers that give each of them personality and life!

I have been inspired and awed by sewers showing their own creativity by expanding on original designs and developing something amazing! Thanks to social media (and in particular Instagram and Pinterest), I have connected with some incredible sewing artists who have taken my book kits and turned them into stuffed animals, blankets and wall hangings complete with pockets! I am thrilled by the versatility of these kits as they really do allow the maker to do so many unique and beautiful things with the fabric pieces.
