April Fools Familia!

Happy Monday familia (family in Spanish)! I wanted to continue to showcase some of the different featured fabrics from the various quilt shop only companies that my family owns. Today, I want to focus on the 108″ fabrics produced by Studioe Fabrics and next week I will focus on Blank Quilting unless something else comes up.

Today, I am going to break this down by: digital, traditional, pigment white and solid 108″. All of the digital, traditionally printed and pigment white groups are produced in Pakistan. The Peppered Cottons by Pepper Cory were woven, dyed, finished and double and rolled in India.

DIGITALLY PRINTED: We currently carry two 108″ groups that are digitally printed: Matrix and Watercolor Meadow.

4893/77 MATRIX 108″

Matrix: This 7 sku collection is comprised of a geometric layered effect that is reminiscent of crystalline rock formations. It was designed by Chelsea DesignWorks. The pattern number is 4893.  This group ships in June. This 108″ works really well with the Beauty in Bloom line which is also by ChelseaDesignWorks.

4280/98 WATERCOLOR MEADOW 108″

Watercolor Meadow: This digital 108″ is comprised of some very colorful flowers with lots of shades and tones. The reason this had to be digitally printed was because of all the shades and tones. This grouping is actually a reprint as it sold so well the first time around. It currently comes in 5 colorations. The pink color was the weakest in the original collection and that color has since been dropped so we can focus on the best of the best.

TRADITIONALLY PRINTED: We currently have three 108″ collections that are traditionally printed on the rotary machine: Oval Essence, Lazy Loops & Transparencies.

4080/98 LAZY LOOPS 108″

Lazy Loops: This collection contains 7 different colorways. The design is comprised of a snakelike pattern with alternating colors on what would be the snake’s body. The design is then placed on top of a solid colored ground. This design is pattern number 4080. This line is sure to add some nice movement to your next quilt project.

4310/8 OVAL ESSENCE 108″

Oval Essence: The Oval Essence 108″ is made up of irregular shaped ovals that look like eggs and work together to create a transparent effect. There are 6 different colorways in this collection. It is identified as pattern 4310. This design is simple, but has a very dramatic impact with lots of fun colors that are sure to pop out on your next project.

4526/34 TRANSPARENCIES 108″

Transparencies: This collection is made up of irregular round and hollow shapes overlapping each other. This design is sold in 6 different colors. The pattern is 4526. This is another very geometric design that is a perfect complement to your next creation.

PIGMENT WHITE: We sell a lot of pigment white on white designs. In addition, we sell the pigment white on 108″ wide fabrics too. They usually are very strong sellers. The designs are created by dropping a pigment like dye similar to a paste or paint onto the fabric. The pigment doesn’t come off the fabric.

4115/01W TOUCH OF WHITE 108″

Touch Of White: This pigment white group comes in 5 different designs. It is unlike most of the other 108″ lines in that it is comprised of various prints and not different colorways of the same design. With that, you have 5 distinctly different and quiet designs to add to any quilt that you don’t want to be overwhelmed by what’s on the back.

3655/01W TOUCH OF WHITE 108″

SOLIDS: In addition to all the 108″ prints, we also have a variety of 108″ solids. One group is the solid 108″ which is dyed and the other is the Peppered Cottons by Pepper Cory which are dyed and woven.

45x INK PEPPERED COTTON 108″

Peppered Cotton shot cottons by Pepper Cory: Many years ago we met Pepper Cory for the first time and signed her on as a licensed designer. She proposed that we run shot cottons in a nice heavy weight in 44″. That line ended up selling very well and over time people started asking for us to carry this in 108″. The people spoke and we listened. We started off with a small grouping and as the popularity grew, we increased the size of the line and it currently stands at 12 colors. All of the other 108″ that I have discussed above and will discuss below come in 18 yard bolts except these which come in 15 yard bolts. The thing is that the fabric is very heavy and we don’t want any quilt shop owners messing up their back’s lifting it.

49x PEACOCK PEPPERED COTTON 108″

Solid Cottons: Last, but not least, we have a group of plain solid dyed 108″ backings. There are 9 colors in the group with all the essentials covered.

SOLID RED 108″

Those are the most current 108″ groups that we are carrying with one of the lines not shipping until this summer. We typically release new collections of 108″ wide quilt backs about 3 or 4 times per year when we introduce new collections. We like to have a nice flow of new groupings of 108″ as we are one of the biggest players in this area. Our customers like the quality and price of our 108″ wide backs. If you haven’t tried any of the Studioe or other Jaftex companys’ 108″, please do yourself a favor and ask your local quilt shop to show you what they have for sale from our companies. You won’t be disappointed if I couldn’t say so myself.

It’s April, fools. You just read that entire blog post about Studioe Fabrics’ 108″ and thought there was going to be an April Fools joke. Ha! Joke is on you. Thanks for reading this blog all the way until the end. Have a great day!

Thanks for a great explanation on the 108” backs, the types and all the different ones available. Who knew? Also, loved the video tour of the warehouse yesterday. With all your giving of sewing machines and fabric/supplies have you ever thought (I’m sure you have) of starting a non-profit foundation to fund your giving projects that foster the arts of fabric and sewing?

      Hi Karen,
Thanks for your comment. I am glad you were able to get something out of the information about the Studioe 108″. Also glad you enjoyed the warehouse tour. It was fun for me too.
As for the non-profit, I have thought about it, but there are probably too many rules and a lot of paperwork. For that reason, I am just going to keep doing what I am doing. Thanks for the good suggestion.
      Have a great weekend.

Hi Scott, I am currently living in Vanuatu. Love the fabrics above. Pretty colors and patterns, just amazing. One question, do you shipp fabrics overseas? Would love to make projects with them.

    • Scott Fortunoff

      Hi Rosana,
Vanuata! That is pretty cool. I had to google it. Cute little island. So glad to have you following me all the way from Vanuatu.
Glad you like all of our 108″ fabrics from studioe. We do not ship to consumers overseas. We ship to our international distributors. With that, I bet you can go online and find somewhere to buy our fabrics. Good luck! Say hi to everyone in Vanuatu.
      Have a great weekend.

Scott – you crack me up! And I had no idea that Peppered Cottons came in 108″ backing. Now I need to get my hands on this as well. I have only recently started taking advantage of wide backs and wondered what took me so long! Thanks for the info. Have a great week!

    • Scott Fortunoff

      Hi Barb,
How did I crack you up? Oh, you fell for the April Fools? Yes, Peppered Cottons do come in 108″. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
      Regards,
      Scott

  • Marylin

This is amazing! I often piece my back to match my front because I want the back to be a compliment.

    • Scott Fortunoff

      Hi Marylin,
Glad you enjoyed the blog post. I hear you, but you could also find a 108″ to match the quilt too…then you don’t have to piece it. Just saying!
      Have a great weekend.
