Jaftex Video Challenge … Year Six…Who’s In?

Instructions & Rules

  • WHO: This contest is for all Jaftex customers that buy directly i.e., not from a distributor.  In other words, since the prizes will be credits, we can only provide credits to direct customers.
  • WHAT:  Create a short or long-form video of your shop that you post on your business Facebook page.  I will share it on my work Facebook page too:  @JaftexPresident. The video needs to remain up for the entire month of August starting from the time you first post it. Please note you can only submit one video for each category, though we encourage you to make as many as you would like on your own page!
  • WHY: This should be your ‘super bowl commercial’ that you can use to get more Facebook, Instagram, YouTube & Tik Tok consumer interest in your business. The goal is that this video will entice new customers to visit you and buy from you. In addition, immediately following this contest, we at Jaftex host a contest for consumers called #ScottSentMe2023. The #ScottSentMe2023 Challenge is a challenge to see how many stores consumers can visit from September 1st, 2023, to the end of November 2023. Your video can help draw new consumers to visit you for the #ScottSentMe2023 Challenge.  That would be another win for you.
  • WHEN: Tuesday, August 1, 2023, to Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 12 pm eastern time. (No tours will be posted on my Facebook page until 9 AM eastern time on Aug. 1, 2023). We will post the videos in the order that they are received. Videos will not be accepted before July 31, 2023. Moreover, the videos cannot be made before July 31, 2023. That helps to ensure that no participant gets a head start with the number of views which is the basis for winning the challenge!  
  • HOW:
    • Option A – Short Reels Video: Tape a short freestyle video (less than 90 seconds) using Reels. (Reels get more attention because of the short length which increases engagement and helps to attract new followers). Remember, we will only accept one submission only per category, per shop.
    • Option B – Facebook Live Video: Videotape a short Facebook (FB) live freestyle video of anything you deem worth seeing in your shop (Live videos get more attention than pre-recorded videos). Remember, we will only accept one submission per category, per shop.

Once you have chosen Option A and/or Option B, you should then post the video/s to your shop’s business Facebook page.  If you don’t have a business Facebook page, this would be a good time to get that going as you CANNOT participate without one. Copy the link to your video from Facebook and email that link to jaftex2023@gmail.com. Make sure to include the link as well as all of your company details (Owner’s Name, Shop Name, Business Address, Email Address, Website and Phone Number) so that we can keep proper records. The sooner you submit your video, the more time you will have to get the most views needed to win. (Again, please note, only one video submission will be accepted per shop, per category).

To Win: Get the most total VIEWS in either the Reels or Facebook Live categories.

Video Format

Option A – Short Reels Freestyle Video:

  • Videos must be less than 90 seconds. Below is a list of ideas.

Option B – Short Facebook Live Freestyle Video:

  • Videos must be less than 5 minutes; however, we will allow 30 seconds of grace. If it is longer than 5 minutes and 30 seconds it will not be posted.  There will be no exceptions even if it is 5:31. Sorry, but we need firm and clear rules. Below is a list of ideas.

Ideas for Filming

  • Idea 1: Introduce yourself, your shop and/or your employees.
  • Idea 2: Offer a special sale item, a price discount or a sales event that has an expiration date, no longer than 30 days would work best.  If you go this route, please make sure you have sufficient stock to cover you if the sale is a hit. 
  • Idea 3: Feature your clubs, your classes, special tools or patterns you created, an event you have coming up, a book you may have written or other features that help to make your shop and you stand out from the competition.

Filming Suggestions & Advice in No Particular Order

  • Reels must be less than 90 seconds.
  • Facebook Live videos must be no more than 5 minutes. However, we will give you grace up to 5 minutes and 30 seconds and no longer. Videos longer than 5 minutes and 30 seconds will not be posted.
  • If your video is longer than the required length, we will let you know that it will not be posted and you will have to do it again or miss out on this great opportunity. 
  • Move the camera around slowly when filming. Consider a selfie stick or other similar apparatus to help hold the camera steady.
  • Speak clearly, slowly and loudly so everyone can hear.
  • Make sure you have strong lighting.
  • Get rid of any extraneous noise like music or loud air conditioners. If you have a wireless bluetooth mic or ear pods, use them.
  • Consider creating the video when your store is quiet in the early am or the evening. During busy hours might not be ideal.
  • Do a test run or a couple of takes when filming your video so you can properly prepare for ideal product placement and any filming transitions.
  • Consider tidying up your shop or making special displays for whichever format of video you choose.
  • Be clear and concise when speaking.
  • Feature as many Jaftex Fabrics as possible depending on the format of video that you choose and the allotted amount of time that you have planned for filming. Nathan Co., Inc.)  You could also include other company fabrics and products that we distribute (Stof Fabrics Of DenmarkOasis Fabrics or Sykel.)
  • After you post your video, be sure to engage daily with all the people who comment i.e., respond and be social.  We recommend sharing it to your Instagram channel if you have one, and also to your stories. This is a great opportunity to engage with your audience and customers to make a potential sale.

Winners & Prizes

There will be two categories of winners, the Reels category and the Facebook Live category. The winner for EACH category will be ONE shop with the most VIEWS attained as of noon eastern standard time on Friday, September 1, 2023. You can only win one of the categories, not both, but you can submit both types of videos. Therefore, it would be in your best interest to get as many of your fans and followers engaged. As mentioned above, it is important to note that we will only accept one submission, per shop, per category, though we encourage you to keep implementing this practice for your shop in the future to up your video content game. Also, those who have won in the past can win again, so have it!

Grand prize:  Your prize is that you just awesomely promoted your shop. You also did an amazing Reels video and/or taped a Facebook live video showing off your business….and Jaftex fabrics. In addition, the two Grand Prize winners (the Reels winner with the most views and the Facebook Live winner with the most views) will each receive a Jaftex credit for $1,500 to be used on future orders.

*Please note that if we reach 200 Reels submissions, we will add a new and additional grand prize of $2,500 in Jaftex credits for a total of 4 prizes equalling $5250.  The same goes for the Facebook Live submissions. If we reach 200 Facebook Live submissions, we will add a new and additional grand prize of $2,500 in Jaftex credits for a total of 4 prizes equalling $5250. That’s $10,500 in prizes. Not too shabby!

The fine print….

I will make all the final decisions as this is my contest.  I reserve the right to make any executive decisions needed to make this run smoothly and be finished according to the determined timeframe.  If participants don’t behave like adults, they will be disqualified. If there is a tie, there will have to be a tie-breaker that I will come up with at that time.

Again, you must be a Jaftex direct customer who purchased fabric from a direct sales rep, ordered online or ordered from a customer service rep in 2023 before the contest began.  You must be in good financial standing with all Jaftex Companies to win….so please get those old bills cleaned up asap.

You need to make sure that you meet all the criteria from above because when I see who gets the most views, I will make sure all these criteria were met.  If all the criteria are not satisfied, I will then pick the next contestant with the most views who meets all the criteria.

All questions must be posted in the comment section of this blog, the Facebook post that this blog is posted in on my business Facebook page: @JaftexPresident or the Instagram post that my blog is posted in on my business Instagram page: @scott_fortunoff.  I will answer all questions within a day or two.  All questions will be answered in the location where they are asked so everyone can see the questions and answers. These directions are pretty concise if you ask me, so I don’t anticipate too many questions and beg you to think long and hard before asking one.

Do not email me or call me personally or anyone else in my organization about this contest or you will be disqualified.
