Happy Belated Birthday Dad
Dear Dad,
I am sorry for not posting this birthday blog on your actual birthday (11/11) as I know how sensitive you can be about this sort of stuff. Unfortunately for you, my social media managers told me that I had to blog about other things for your birthday. I tried to dissuade them….Jen & Vanessa! (Ahem!) I will let them know that you will be reaching out to talk to them.
Just around 49 years ago you contributed to me making my arrival on this planet. Thanks so much for that by the way. It’s been an awesome dream ever since and I have that to thank you for…and mom too. But seriously, as I have said many times before on my blog posts, you are truly a very special dad and I thank my lucky stars to have chosen you. LOL.
In any case, today I am here to wish you a happy belated birthday. I am sure that you won’t want me to tell anyone or maybe you won’t care, but you look really good for 85. Ah, just messing with you since you are really only 75. I crack myself up! But didn’t that help to make you feel better about only being 75? I am trying here.
There are so many special memories of our times together that I will never forget. From you coaching sports when I was a kid, to family vacations, to business trips together and everything in between, it’s been a great ride. One special moment that I, unfortunately, didn’t have was the opportunity to celebrate your birthday with you in person since you chose to move to Florida with all the other 85-year-olds.
But seriously again, I hope your big day was a special one. No doubt you probably ate plenty and drank a few too. I hope you were showered with gifts and especially liked the ones from my siblings and me.
With that, let me say, happy belated big fella. My family and I look forward to celebrating with you in Florida over the Christmas holiday. Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving, a Happy Chanukah, a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. See you soon.
Love you tons,
Your Wise Guy Son Scott
