Let’s See What’s In The Henry Glass May 2023 Release

The Henry Glass May 2023 release consists of 13 groups that ship from December 2023 to February 2024. Today, I want to give you a taste of what Henry Glass has to offer this time around. Don’t forget that a release is when our reps begin to sell the lines for the first time to their quilt shop customers. That compares to a rollout which is when we actually start shipping the lines to quilt shops for the first time.

A Beautiful Day by Dawn Rosengren: Dawn Rosengren lives on a hobby farm filled with many little animals that she considers to be a part of her family. As you could imagine, Dawn loves to depict all her adorable animal friends in her quilting collections and this collection is no different. Just take a look at the 24″ panel and you can see how talented Dawn is, but you can see how sweet her farm animals are too. This isn’t the only panel though, there is a 36″ panel in this group that can be made into a kid’s soft book. If farm lines are your thing, this is the go-to!

Basin Blooms by Stacy West: Stacy’s latest collection is an ode to spring and the excitement of the changing of the seasons. This 18 SKU collection has a retro feel to it. It kind of feels 1930s-ish like one of the Nana Mae lines. The highlight of the line is definitely the 36″ panel that spells out S-P-R-I-N-G. I see lots of great projects in the future made with this one (see below). The other thing I would like to highlight is the neat small block design pattern 1176-44. It’s really adorable too and can be used as running yardage or it could be fussy cut. Lastly, you should know that this collection coordinates perfectly with Stacy’s new Timeless Linen Basics. Make sure to check those out too!

Bloomerang by Jane Shasky: Jane has done it again! This time it is with a gorgeous lilac flower collection. Different shades of purple combined with green meld perfectly. Below is the lovely 24″ panel for this collection and it really shines off the white ground. What a great panel in that it can be used as is or you can choose to cut up and use the blocks as you see fit. If you are a purple lover, this one is for you!

The one other thing to mention about the Bloomerang line is that the line contains an engineered design of placemats. You get 4 placemats per panel and an added bonus of some quilt labels.

Friday Harbor by Janet Rae Nesbitt of One Sister: We certainly can never have enough patriotic lines. This 21 SKU patriotic line is a beauty. What will be even better is all the great project inspiration that Janet has to offer with this line. Stay tuned for those. In the meantime, I would be remiss if I didn’t draw your attention to the 24″ panel. I have shared it below so you can see how awesome it is. I love the quilts hanging and blowing in the wind as well as the “quilt show today” sign. Outside of the panel, the line has 20 fabulous small americana prints including plaids, textures, churn dash, flower dots, star flowers and so much more. Take note that this line would work with any of Janet’s basic lines whether it is a print from the Linen Closet series or the One Sister Basics.

Go-Go by Kate Mawdsley: This 9-piece transportation collection is perfect for all those little boys wanting truck quilts. I love the way Kate mixes in a little black with the primary color story in this group. Not only that, but she has some cute little animals hanging out in the back of vehicles. I am including the line collage below so you can see how nicely the group works together.

Home Sweet Home by Debbie Busby of Wooden Spool Designs: When Debbie was a kid, her family moved around a lot. This line serves as a synopsis of a variety of the things that Debbie encountered upon moving so frequently. The line is 15 SKUS. One thing to draw your attention to are the cross-stitch opportunities with this line. Throughout the collection, you will notice that several of the designs provide an opportunity for you to embellish your projects with some cross-stitching. All you need to do is follow the x textures. Here is an example below of one of the cross-stitch prints.

Mademoiselle by Jessica Mundo: Jessica is back with a new 9-piece collection. This one is a fusion of dress forms and classic red flowers. The story is mostly in red, black and white which remains to be a very popular color combination. This line definitely relates to our industry with fabric swatches, pins, etc. Consumers are sure to have fun with this one. Below is the panel for your viewing pleasure.

Quiet Grace by Kim Diehl: This 32 SKU collection sets us up for the next iteration of the Simple Whatnots Club 13. Since it is the 13th one, I am sure almost everyone knows about this by now. If not, you need to learn asap by clicking here for more details. Hold on folks because if that isn’t enough, Kim is also planning the Brimming Over Stitch-Along which should be nothing short of awesome. By clicking on the link mentioned just above, you can find out about that too. There is lots of info so start reading! Below is the collage of the entire line so you can get a feel for it.

Quilted Kitties by Robert Giordano: Bob’s newest 11 SKU collection combines two favorites for many: cats & quilting. He does such a nice job of mixing these two elements together to create a well-rounded collection. Check out the 24″ panel below to see what I mean.

Sunwashed Romance 108″ by Kim Diehl: Kim is offering 6 new 108″ wide quilt backs. These are really meant to work with the new Quiet Grace line discussed above, but they can go with any of Kim’s lines or with any line for that matter. Check out the collage below, but please no drooling on the fabric.

Surf’s Up by Barb Tourtillotte: The latest from Barb is for all the coastal and surfer quilters out there. The line actually reminds me of the opening of the show Two And A Half Men. I also see some Baywatch. It just so perfectly captures that California dreamin’ feel. You know what I mean brah?

Turtle March by Lisa Sparling: With so many being socially conscious these days and caring more and more about the environment, this line is spot on for all the nature lovers. It captures the precious moment when sea turtle eggs hatch from underneath the sand. They all then make the march to try to survive all the predators and the elements. I have had the fortunate opportunity to see these sea turtles hatching a few times in my life in person. Those turtles are just so precious. If only they could all survive the turtle march. I can’t wait to see some quilts made with this line.

Twilight Garden 2-Ply Flannel by Mary Jane Carey of Holly Hill Quilt Designs: We have not been running as many flannel lines these days as we have in the past. The demand unfortunately dropped. In any case, we are giving it another go with a lovely floral collection from one of our most esteemed designers. The line mixes gorgeous large florals with calicos, paisleys, daisy dots and some other medium-sized flowers. What I love most about this line is the color story containing lots of shades of purple along with yellow and blue. Here, I will show the collage image of the line so you can get a feel for the entire story and how it coordinates so well.

I hope that was enough eye candy for you for one day. If you are a shop owner, please reach out to your sales rep or contact customer service to buy this collection. Or, you can always order online or contact me at scott@jaftex.com.

If you are a consumer, make sure to reach out to your favorite fabric reseller to ask them to buy your favorite lines for you. Don’t forget that these lines don’t start to ship until December of 2023 so you are going to have to be patient. I am sorry for being such a tease, but that’s what we do in this business.

Well, that was fun. I hope you enjoyed my concise, not so concise, synopsis and analysis of The Henry Glass May 2023 release.
