My Favorite October Shipping Collections
October is one of my favorite times of the year. The trees turn all sorts of wonderous warm colors and the cool air allows me to bring out some of my favorite sweaters. The collections shipping out this month are quite fun so let us jump into some of my favorites.
Jardin de Lune has me glowing with ideas. This collection features glow-in-the-dark elements for a unique twist on a garden collection. I envision this being used in the bedroom as when you turn off the light at night you will still be able to enjoy a wonderful garden. The panel will help you create decorative pillows or put together a quilt easily.
My favorite pattern is the pansy, it is stunning in the dark as well! Even without a window in your bedroom, you can enjoy the moonlight with this group, all the moons in the patterns glow. This magical group would be fun to gift to others as it will surprise them when they turn off the lights and it glows.
There is no shock that my favorite collection from FreeSpirit this month is Palette Pink by Tim Holtz. This group is part of a 12-month series where each month a new color is unveiled. This is the first color scheme shipping out. This pink hue reminds me of bubble gum or cotton candy, it truly is a sweet way to start the series. I am looking forward to each month’s color release. As you collect a fabric from each color you can slowly piece them together into a stunning quilt.
Point of View is a unique collection that features landscape scenes that cover the width of the fabric. They make for a showstopping wall hanging or even a unique tablecloth. The watercolor paper texture comes through the artwork giving it an artisan touch. My favorite point of view is the lakeside. Which one is your favorite?
I plan on rotating through the scenes to hang on my wall monthly so I can change my point of view and feel like I am working in a new location each month. Along with the fabric-width scenes, there are some textural patterns to pair with the scenes or use on their own.
Big Kitties is for all the ferocious little ones in your life. They will growl with excitement when you make a quilt for them using the panel. The neutral color palette lends it to fit in any space. Did you know the cheetah can run up to 80 MPH? It is the fastest animal on land, I know I would not want to be chased by one. While cheetahs are fast, a group of lions roar can be heard from 5 miles away.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people mix up leopard and cheetah prints. The leopard print is c-shaped spots while the cheetah features just black dots. With this group you will be able to help your little ones learn the difference and you might even inspire them to research more about these big kitties.
I hope you enjoyed these favorite collections from this month. I look forward to seeing the projects you create with them. What collection is your favorite?
