• My Favorite April Shipping Collections

I hope you all had a nice Easter. I am very excited about April as the weather is starting to get warmer and the summer is getting nearer….my favorite season. I am even more excited about some of the Jaftex April shipping collections as this is when all of our harvest and Halloween collections ship. With that, let me do a little run through of some of my favorites for this month. As you can tell from the above logo, I am going to start with the Blank Quilting Corporation. My favorite line is Front 9 by Elizabeth Medley. This selection leads back to what I said earlier about summer…

  • Don’t Be Afraid To Change Things Up

When times get challenging on the business front, it’s a good time to take a long hard look under the hood. We at Jaftex have been doing a lot of looking under the hood of late with economic conditions worsening and the insanity of Covid excesses waning. With that, we have decided to make one fairly large change. I am sure there will be others, but for now, this is the big one and at least the one I am going to share with you today. Let me tell you about it. One area where we need to control our costs better is with our double and rolling. As such,…

  • Setting The Record Straight Again: And No FreeSpirit Is NOT Going Out Of Business

Ever since I started this new series of Setting the Record Straight, just about every week I have something new to write about. It’s as if people are just starting stupid rumors and lies so I have something to blog about. Well, don’t worry as I have plenty to write about so please just stop spreading lies and rumors. With that, this week, I got an email with the subject line: Rumor? In my experience, that has never been a good subject line. Anyway, as I dug into the email from my rep who received it, this is what I see: I just heard an ugly rumor that FreeSpirit is…

  • Let’s See What’s In The Henry Glass March 2023 Release

Henry Glass is on a slightly different schedule than my other companies when it comes to new line releases in the March-May timeframe. Henry Glass has a March and May release whereby the other companies have only one April release. Today, I will be discussing the Henry Glass March release. The Henry Glass Fabrics & Co, Inc. March 2023 release consists of 14 lines that ship from September to November. Before I dive into the discussion of the lines though, I wanted to point something out to all the Henry Glass shop owner customers. The Jaftex companies are moving all double and rolling functions overseas. That’s another story for another…

  • Setting the Record Straight: The Blank Quilting Corp.

I am back again to set the record straight and clear up the ever-annoying misconceptions in the fabric world that exist about my businesses. This week, I am focused on the Blank Quilting Corp. and how crazy it is to me that people still think the company is owned by Mr. Blank. In 2014, my family purchased the Blank Quilting Corp. from Mr. Blank. I can’t believe it has been almost 10 years. Following the acquisition, there were loads of changes made at Blank (BQC) as that is part of our typical acquisition playbook. For argument’s sake, let’s just say that the Blank Quilting Corporation didn’t have the best reputation…

  • My Favorite Shipping Lines For March 2023

As you learned in my early February blog, I am starting a new series whereby I pick my favorite lines that are shipping in a certain month. This month is March so let me dive right in and tell you about my favorites from the Blank Quilting Corp., FreeSpirit Fabrics, Henry Glass Fabrics and Studio e Fabrics. The Blank Quilting Corp.: My favorite line is Flower Power by Fran Morgan of Fabric Cafe. I selected this as my favorite for a few reasons. First off, I am super proud to have Fran on board with the Blank Quilting Corp. as a designer. We love having well-known people in the industry…

I hope you all read my blog from February 1, 2023, regarding the fact that I am bringing back my sewing machine giveaways. • .Com Confusion Revisited Yet Again…..People Are Still Confused

I am not sure why, but this topic has reared its head for the third time. With that, I figured that I would clear up the .com confusion that is still running rampant at the expense of my companies. Not too long ago, I got an email that opened my eyes to the madness of what is occurring on the internet lately.  In the email, the customer was writing to me asking how it was possible that a Studio e fabric was being sold on the walmart.com website.  My first reaction was, “No Way!”  I clicked on the link and, low and behold, one of the Studio e fabrics was…

  • Setting the Record Straight

In my continued effort to keep my blogs interesting in 2023, I am going to start yet another blog series that I will sporadically touch on throughout the year when necessary to clear the air. This one, as you can tell by the title, is called Setting the Record Straight. I decided to start this series because there is so much misinformation out there about my companies and business that I needed to start to address it. I can’t sit here on my hands while people spread lies about the products we sell. With that, instead of letting this misinformation continue to spread, because as we all know everything we…
