The Increased Importance Of Social Media Posting & Advertising For The Jaftex Companies
In 2018 & 2019, I attended the Social Media Marketing Examiner Conference in San Diego, CA with some of my marketing team. This was certainly an eye-opening event and a game-changer for myself and my brands. After the event, I came home with two new overarching concepts for my team to focus on. These broad guiding concepts have served us well thus far.
One thing I learned at the conference was that 80% of what would be consumed on social media would be video. As such, and as you know, we have been pushing video hard both within our company and encouraging our customers to do the same.
The other major concept that I learned about was that social media would continue to play a larger and larger role in our business and lives in general. With that in mind, we really had to build a team and step up our game. It certainly isn’t an easy task to develop loads and loads of content to keep our fans and followers entertained on a very regular basis.
In this blog and a few in the coming weeks, I am going to talk about how we at Jaftex have embraced social media and how it has benefited our companies. Today, I am going to talk briefly about our use of social media posting and ads in general.
On the social posting front, the biggest lesson we learned was being consistent in our postings. With respect to consistency, that means posting at the same time each day and with the same frequency. The idea is to get people into a groove so they know what they can expect of you and they know when to be on the lookout for new posts. In other words, you need to train your followers to be good followers.
Other reasons why regular social posts are important is because it increases brand awareness, helps with SEO rankings, increases conversion rates, encourages brand loyalty and customer education.
Our team now has set times at which we post on each of our pages and platforms. Note that the number of platforms we post on keeps growing so this is no small task to stay on top of. Most recently, for example, I started posting on Tik Tok and YouTube.
We have made a concerted effort to get ahead of our posting so that we can schedule the posts well out in advance and don’t have to stress about not having content on a daily basis. We also have one person whose main job is this. That person is always on the lookout for more content and when there is no more, he has to make it happen.
A few other important things we have learned about social postings include:
- Not mixing too many messages in one post.
- Utilizing quality photos and videos.
- Using hashtags, tags and links sparingly.
- Keeping things short and sweet.
- Engaging commentary from fans and followers with questions.
Now on to advertising. The thing is that the Facebooks, Instagrams, Pinterests, etc. of the world need to make money. As such, they offer paid advertising on their social platforms. You always have the option to not do any advertising and just grow organically. If you could do that, god bless you. I am sure there are lots of amazing brands and celebrities who need no help spreading their message. We aren’t so lucky!
Since we at Jaftex can’t fully rely on organic growth, we have stepped up to advertise more on the social platforms we utilize. We have a budget and we use that budget carefully to ensure that our posts are getting to the right people who follow us already, but also to new people as well. The truth is that advertising is probably most helpful in increasing the number of new followers we have. The long and the short of it is that advertising is a necessary evil to keep things growing and stay on the good graces of the Facebooks, Instagrams, Pinterests, etc.
That’s a brief overview of the Jaftex social media postings and advertising on social media platforms. Over time, we have seen continued growth in our following and engagement which is a good thing. We expect that we will continue to see that increase. Did we sell more fabric because of all these efforts? I would assume so. I mean, I sure hope so! How much? That is really hard to measure, but when you figure out how to do that, let me know.
In the meantime, in the comments, please tell me what you think about our social media progress over the last 5 years.
