Let’s See What’s In The Henry Glass January 2023 Release

Today, I am continuing with my new series for 2023 whereby I will review the latest lines released for sale to fabric resellers around the world by each of my quilt shop-only companies. This week, I will be focusing on Henry Glass Fabrics & Co., Inc.

The Henry Glass Fabrics & Co., Inc. January 2023 release consists of 14 new collections that ship anywhere from July 2023 to September 2023. Below, I will talk briefly about the lines.

Let’s dive right in with the latest additions to two of Leanne Anderson’s basic collections. Since I took over Henry Glass, I asked Leanne Anderson if she wanted to add some new colors to her basic lines. She replied with a resounding, “YES!”

After the new additions, the line will be set and we won’t be revisiting new colors anytime soon as it can be costly and disruptive to the business to keep changing the colors so often. This helps us to set up our precuts so they aren’t always changing. It allows us to maintain a good amount of stock to cover our needs and not have to worry about closing precuts out if the colors in the precut change. It also helps us to set our color cards so they don’t keep on changing and reps can carry them for an extended period. That also means we don’t have to keep spending money making new cards all the time too and using up perfectly good fabric. Lastly, it allows our customers to know that they can rely on us having these colors for an extended period. They can include it in all of their project planning with confidence. With that, below are the collages that contain the new colorways for The Bias Plaid Basic and Bubble Dot Basic. As you can see, many of the new colors across the two basic lines are the same. Make sure to check out all the new project ideas that can be made with these lines.

Dream Big Little One by Shelly Comiskey. Shelly Comiskey is truly one of the most spectacular illustrators I have seen in my career. This 11-piece line depicting Noah’s Ark is just one other example of Shelly’s drawing skills. Whatever you make with this fabric will most definitely make that child in your life smile. Check out her adorable characters! Isn’t she amazingly talented?

Gardening Snowmen by Jan Mott. The title says it all. A fun line of gardening and snowmen. Take a leap of faith with Jan and enjoy this collection where Jan uses some creative license. I will tell you that it isn’t easy to keep being so creative year after year. Just about every theme has been used over and over in our industry. In order to remain fresh and relevant, sometimes you need to be creative and work outside of reality. In the end, I believe this one will be most appealing to those that enjoy gardening. Personally, I am more of a fan of the snow part than the gardening.

Gnome & Garden by Hannah West of Lucky Day Designs. Recently, I visited with Hannah West & her mom Stacy. I got to spend some quality time with them. Hannah is definitely in the running to be a major future star designer for Henry Glass. I look forward to going on that journey with her. This 14-piece retro gnome line captures the essence of sweet little gnomes. She mixes it with cutesy retro coordinates as well. What I love the most though is the 36″ panel that spells out G-N-O-M-E! There are lots of great possibilities and I can’t wait to see what you make with it.

Hat On A Cat by Leanne Anderson and her lovely daughter Kaytlyn Kuebler. Again, the title says it all….a cat line where the cats have hats. Dr. Seuss anyone? What I want to draw your attention to about this line is that there is a block of the month related to this collection. You can find out more information about that here. Anyway, I am going to let the 2 versions of the block of the months speak for themselves. Which do you prefer?

Hay Day by Kate Mawdsley. This 14-piece juvenile farm-themed collection is precious. The animals are quirky and cute. Several prints are nice and small too which is perfect for young ones in your life. I am loving the cute little expressions on the animals below in the 24″ panel. Look at the spotted pig too!

Into The Jungle by Jessica Mundo. Jessica Mundo is really building a name for herself with Henry Glass. She’s had some real winners lately including Flower Market and Liberty For All. What stands out about her newest line to me are the colors. I am enjoying some green in my life and this line has that combined with lots of adorable jungle animals. Check out the blocks that capture exactly what I am talking about.

Kinetic Geometrics by Color Principle. This could be my favorite line of the release. Sometimes I prefer more basic type designs as compared to specifically themed lines. This one is about color and lots of really great geometrics. There are 7 different designs in the line all in 3 color stories. All you need to do with this fabric is cut it up and it will make an awesome quilt used all together or you can mix and match it with other fabrics in your stash. Little Readers 4 by various designers. Just a brief comment here. We continue to sell the 36″ panels that can be made in soft books for kids. We selected 4 books that we ran in the past that were great sellers. You can see them in the image below. Several themes here to choose from.

Nana Mae 7 by Henry Glass Fabrics. This is our in-house 1930s collection. This is the 7th in the series so you know it is doing something right. For this one, we offer fat quarters too for those that prefer that option. 24 SKUs in this retro-colored collection of ditsy prints. Are you a fan of the 1930s prints? Or do you prefer your fabric to be more 2000s? See the entire group below. Love those paisleys.

Party Animals by Rob Parkinson. As Covid subsides or people just don’t take it as seriously, we have been seeing an increase in popularity on party lines. People are back out and about and they want to party no doubt. Read that last sentence again….I am a poet and didn’t even know it! With that, we have Rob’s new juvenile party line that mixes jungle animals, bright colors and parties! Let’s celebrate! I am in.

River Romp by Sharon Kuplack. This is another one of my favorites because it contains a theme that I have not seen on fabric. That theme is otters. You probably don’t know this, but I am really a little bit of a nature boy at heart. I have enjoyed some videos lately of otters as they are utterly adorable creatures that just glide through the water effortlessly and have a fierce appetite. They are pretty tough too in spite of those smiles.

Tumbling Blocks 108″ by Color Principle. I am going to close out this blog with the newest 108″ collection. This one goes hand and hand with the Kinetic Geometric line that I discussed above. These fun tumbling blocks remind me of a video game I played as a kid called Qbert.
