Do you Remember Emelia?
As the face of the Jaftex Companies and the one that deals with the fans and followers. I am the one who sends the fabric donations, gives sewing machines away, awards prizes, sponsors events and so much more for the good of society and those in need. As I have said before, I feel lucky and I want to share with others. It is a great feeling to be able to help others.
With that being said, I never really know what impact my gift will have on others. Of course, there are many that stay in touch with me on social media and send me photos of what they have been doing with whatever it is that I gifted to them. On the other hand, there are tons of others that I never hear from again and just hope that they are reaping the rewards of my gift. And if that is you, I would love to hear from you!
Today though, I want to share an awesome story with you and update you on the progress of the famous Emelia. Do you remember Emelia? She was one of the first to get a sewing machine from me when I went on my sewing machine giveaway binge gifting over 300 sewing machines to those in need. Over the years, she and her mom have shared her awesome creations and journey with us. We even went as far as naming a line after her called Emelia’s Dream. Furthermore, Emelia even met me at a small industry get-together meant to help retailers called Sewposium two times in Orlando, Florida.
Without further ado, please read this update from Emelia’s mom, Trish.
In October of 2017, you sent Emelia a sewing machine…something she had apparently wanted for a very long time. That sewing machine gifted by you opened a world of creativity for Emelia that I don’t think any of us truly knew she had. After learning to sew, one of the teachers at school convinced her to try an art class and shortly after that, the teacher said to me, “I don’t think you have any idea how talented your daughter is!”
Since taking that art class, Emelia has continued to sew, but also has taken other art classes, learning the mediums of paint, water color, pastels, caligraphy and even learning to crochet. Creativity just exudes from Emelia now and this fall she decided that she wanted to apply to Art school.
I just wanted you to know how that sewing machine not only sparked creativity in Emelia, but also helped to put her on the path she is on now. In two weeks she graduates from High School and in the fall she will be attending Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. Ringling is in the top 3% of Art schools in the country and the top 5% of Art schools around the world!
I remember early on when Emelia got her sewing machine and we joked with you that perhaps one day she would end up being an intern in your company! Perhaps some day she will be designing fabric for you! ? (We would love to have her!)
Thank you for investing in Emelia and sparking her creative abilities!
