My Favorite June Shipping Collections

I hope you all had a nice weekend. Today, I am here to tell you about my favorite June shipping collections from my companies. I am excited about the June shipping lines because June is when we wrap up shipping on all seasonal (Xmas, Halloween & Harvest) collections for the year. So without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite June shipping collections.

For the Blank Quilting Corp., I picked Farm Country by Laura Konyndyk. I didn’t pick it as my favorite because I am a farm guy as you all know good and well that I am not that. I am a city guy. But for me, it’s more about the art. We run lots of farm lines amongst the Jaftex Companies on an annual basis, but this is the best I have seen in a while. Based on how well this line sold, lots of fabric resellers agree with me. So for all you consumers out there, you should know that this line will have some good distribution and will hopefully find its way to a shop near year soon. Be on the lookout!

The line contains 16 SKUs. Below are two that really stand out for me. The first one is a 36″ panel that runs horizontally. One of the free projects for this line utilizes the 36″ panel in a great way. 36″ panels in general are nice to work with because they don’t require a lot of additional material to make a pretty finished project. Add a few borders and you are good to go.

My other favorite design is the block print below. I like the mix of the animals with the different barns. Not only that, but I like the way the wagon wheels run up and down the side. Aside from those two designs, the line contains several different animal allover prints including chickens, sheep, goats, cows and pigs. On top of that, there are a bunch of coordinates including a check in 3 colors, a stripe, a floral design and a farm scenic.

For FreeSpirit, I am sure it didn’t take you long to figure out that I am picking Wonderland Flannel by Tim Holtz. How could I not? Tim is still my favorite designer as it pertains to fabrics that I would select for projects made for me. I do have several quilts with Tim’s fabric and I adore them all.

Wonderland is a 10-piece assortment of lovely Christmas prints on luscious 2-ply flannel that is printed in South Korea. My favorite print is the one above with some retro Xmas images. The line also contains two plaids and word prints which are always so popular. Lastly, there is a very functional stripe in green, red and white.

Since the Tim Holtz fabric was such an obvious choice due to the fact that he is always my favorite, I have picked a runner-up too. I am picking Architecture School by Billy Reue. Billy’s new lines are very interesting as they all relate to his work as an architect and have some freshness to them. His collection is comprised of 16 SKUs that are truly very interesting and different because again, they do relate to architecture and are more than just quilting groups. I really like how the projects turned out for this line. Check them out below.

Next up, we have Henry Glass Fabrics. For Henry Glass, I picked Our Greatest Gift by the mother-daughter team, Leanne Anderson and Kaytlyn Kuebler. I selected this line because really, what is better than a child being born? This line celebrates the birth of a child. The collection contains 12 designs that blend having a baby with sweet adorable animals. You can observe the adorable animals in these two panels below. I also love the fresh color story they are working with here.

But most of all, I love this design below. If you don’t know what it is, it is a milestone quilt. What you are supposed to do with this is lie the baby down under the rainbow and then take a rock or a ball or something to cover up the number pertaining to the age in months of the baby. You are supposed to take one photo a month. Then at the end you have this awesome progression of what the baby looked like over its first 12 months of life.

Do you want to know why I picked this design? I picked it because we had something similar to this when my kids were born. It was the same idea, but rather it was a picture frame. It went around like a clock whereby you were supposed to add one picture of the child from each of the child’s first months being on this planet. It was really nice to be able to see how my babies changed over the first year of their lives.

Last, but not least, we have Studio E Fabrics. For Studio E Fabrics, I selected Zooming Chickens by Timna Tarr. I selected this line because I can’t get enough of Timna’s collage quilts and that is really kind of the basis for this line. Check out the collages that she uses in this panel design. If you look closely at all the chickens, you can see that they are all made up of small swatches of fabric.

I also think that Zooming Chickens is a witty line. I love how Timna brings in as many things as possible related to chickens. She has feather. She has a sunny-side up egg design. She has an egg carton geo. Lastly, and she did this with her last line, she pulled things from the farmer’s almanac in black and white to add a nice twist. In short, I think this line is egg-cellent. I hope you like it too!

What do you think of my selections?

The biologist part of me loves that farm panel. My kids tell me I am too old for a quilt with that, but I disagree. I also have been following the Architecture School line. Love the bright color and different take on geometric lines. And the chickens! I have to have the chickens. I am planning a quilt for a young lady who loves her gang of chickens. She would love this, and it would save me quite a bit of piecing/applique time. That is important, as I try to play catch-up with my self-imposed project of a quilt for every teen/young adult in my church. I want them to remember that they are loved always. Yep. Good pickin’s, Scott.

I really love the Aqueduct Quilt made with Architecture School by Billy Reue and can’t wait to see the Tim Holtz Wonderland Flannels! I, too, am a big fan of Timna Tarr’s amazing quilts and her Zooming Chickes are too cute! :~D
