My Favorite Shipping Lines For March 2023
As you learned in my early February blog, I am starting a new series whereby I pick my favorite lines that are shipping in a certain month. This month is March so let me dive right in and tell you about my favorites from the Blank Quilting Corp., FreeSpirit Fabrics, Henry Glass Fabrics and Studio e Fabrics.
The Blank Quilting Corp.: My favorite line is Flower Power by Fran Morgan of Fabric Cafe. I selected this as my favorite for a few reasons. First off, I am super proud to have Fran on board with the Blank Quilting Corp. as a designer. We love having well-known people in the industry working with us. I also like it because I love the fact that Fabric Cafe has all these amazing 3 yard quilts that can be made with these fabrics. In fact, this line was specifically designed for 3 yard quilts and there will be some newly introduced projects hitting the market around the time of this line.
On top of all that, I find the line to be super cheery with the loud shades of green, pink, yellow and blue. The designs are on the simpler side, but I know when you put these fabrics together they are going to shine in your 3 yard quilt project or whatever project you are making for that matter. I hate to say it, but the sku that speaks to me the most is the fun stripe with the colorful dots. Check it out below:
My next favorite would have to be the fun large floral on pink, but this also comes on a white, green or blue ground too.
With the grand finale for this line being this fun free project:
FreeSpirit Fabrics: You are never going to be able to figure out my favorite for FreeSpirit. Actually, if you know me well, you probably will figure it out. Shockingly (note sarcasm), I am picking the Tim Holtz Embark collection. I just can’t get enough of Tim’s fabrics. You can rest assured that if he has a new line shipping in a month, he’s going to be my favorite. That’s just how it needs to be. (Love you Tim! Call me)
This line is super interesting to me though because this is a canvas line and I have never sold canvas before. We just introduced the canvas in the last year or so to much fanfare. Tim’s designs are so perfect for this fabric. I am sure canvas fans are super excited about this too as there are lots of things that can be made with canvas. Let’s just say that I can’t wait to see what everyone makes with this line.
It’s so hard for me to pick one favorite from the group. Therefore, I will try to pick only two or maybe three.
Henry Glass Fabrics: For Henry Glass, it’s a little bit of a tougher decision since I have a total of 6 lines to choose from. Drum roll please…….I picked Fairytale Forest by Color Principle. This is a really adorable fairy line for young girls, tweeners and adults too. What really does it for me is this awesome 36″ panel. Check this baby out…
How fabulous is that panel? Look at all the detail! You just want to dive in there with all the beautiful fairies….I mean flowers. The colors! The castle! And you can’t forget the ever popular mushroom which has been showing up on lots of fabrics of late.
Another favorite is this lovely block print pattern 3019-77 with all the beautiful fairies and butteflies on that soft purple ground.
If that wasn’t enough, check out the inspiration. This is one of the 2 free projects.
Studio E Fabrics: For Studio E, I picked Disco Tech. This line is super cool. It brings me back to the days when I used to rave until all hours of the morning… NOT! It’s just a fresh line that you don’t see much of. It’s for the techie that also might like to make music or play music as a dj. You can even just use lots of these designs alone as they have so much movement and interest. My inner Kaffe is saying to just cut it up. Here are a few to give you an idea what I mean.
With that folks, those are my favorite shipping lines for this March 2023 from my companies. What do you think of my choices?

I like the brights of flower power. Also the Tim Holz prints. I recently discovered Terry Runion painting those fun cats, and showed her work to a friend. We both agreed that we would love fabric with the cats. I did a search and found some of the older cat prints on etsy. Also saw that she has a new line coming out soon. I do like frogs, but cats are my favorite.

The Tim Holtz collection would perfect for a memory quilt. I love the Flower Power ones as well. Nice bright, bold prints. Reminds me of the 1960’s. I also saw the Fresh Market collection video. The bicycle motifs are very sweet. The designs remind me of the Farmers Market in NYC.

I love when you show us the new lines! The only problem is that I find myself loving too many. These are all so different and interesting. I am a big fan of Henry Glass!

Thanks for showcasing the new lines. Most of these stretch my comfort zone! LOL My LQS used to have a big sale twice a year with some fabrics 75% off. I would usually buy up what no one else wanted. They were usually out of my comfort zone. I really learned a lot from doing that, so I try not to shy away from some of the new styles.

By far “Fairytale Forest” is my ultimate favorite!

Enjoyed seeing all your favorites and have to agree — Tim Holtz’s fabrics are often our favorites, too. We’ve been making models using his new Embark canvas fabrics and they are AWESOME!
We’re planning a Live With Annie episode with the team from FreeSpirit to showcase them and talk about tips for working with canvas. Thanks for sharing the fabrics with us.

I agree with your comment in the first section that it is always a good idea to have fabric designers that also can offer project ideas especially for newer quilters. I do wish when I went to the fabric lines’ list of project downloads. There was a way to sort by date instead of just alphabetically so I could see the newest project offerings.

I love Fran Morgan’s fabric. And thanks for the free pattern!
