Resolutions, Who Needs Them?

Happy New Year - Madeira Island News Blog

Happy New Year everyone! I must say that the first Monday of the New Year is usually a dreaded day. It means back to the grind and a lot of days and weeks ahead.

Got a case of the Monday blues?

I, however, am going to take a different view. I am not dreading Monday. You know why?

I am not dreading Monday because I have already broken my New Year’s resolution and now I have nothing to worry about. Well, not nothing, but no resolutions.

Yeah, I know I said I wasn’t going to have any resolutions this year, but then January 1 came and I was like, “Scott, you gotta get into a better workout regimen and I decided I would try to work out every day in some way, shape or form.” January 1 arrived. I motivated, did some stretching and then ran a cool 5 miles. Not bad for a 48-year-old chunk, lol.

Then January 2nd came and it all came crashing to a halt. What can I say? My bed was a lot more comfortable than the treadmill in the am. Then I had lunch and I couldn’t work out on a full stomach. Then we went on a family adventure. Then, it was dinner. At that point, it was one workout and a broken resolution. Ah, what an awesome feeling! A load off my back.

Is Setting a New Year's Resolution a Waste of Time or Not? | Psychology Today

With the year we all had last year, who needs self-induced pressure. Everyone needs to do “you” and just take it one day at a time and do the best “you” possible can. There is so much tumult in the world right now that we need to give ourselves a break and don’t pile any more stress or pressure. We are who we are and the change of one year to the next need not be the source of stress.

Unless your resolution is to quilt and sew more or buy more fabric, let the resolutions go and set yourself free.

Good afternoon here’s hoping 2021 gives everyone more hope, more love and support. After losing my husband last year I lost my love in sewing. But through the grace and support of my friends, family and the new “Look Books “ I’m ready to get back in the groove. Thanks Scott for helping show us the other side of fabric design. Great New Year to you and yours.
