Semester with Scott Part 8: Social Media

This is the last week of class for #SemesterWithScott and your last chance to listen up and take notes for the final exam (which will take place on Sunday, December 13, 2020 LIVE at 4 PM EST on my @jaftexpresident Facebook page). So kick back, relax and enjoy as I tell you all about this week’s topic, social media! We’re going to dive deep into the process from the start when the collection releases until when the fabric ends up in quilt shops for you to purchase.

Just Released – Shown to consumers after the release of new fabric lines. We ask consumers to tag their local quilt shop or contact them if they would like to see that shop carry a certain collection. These videos will appear 2 to 3 times or more in a cycle on the brand’s Facebook and Instagram until the next new release hits. These appear on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. We also show them on my @jaftexpresident Facebook page too.

Free Projects – Every Thursday, we feature a FREE project download from a new line that has released. These projects can include everything from quilts and table sets to tote bags and pillowcases. The sky is the limit.

Shipping Now– When the lines are shipping to shops and we receive the designer samples, we then create a video to show the actual fabric to consumers to remind them that these lines will be available at their local quilt shop very soon. These are featured on Tuesdays. After we film the video, we ship the fabric off to our Brand Ambassadors so that they can create quilts and/or several small projects out of the lines to spark creativity and show off the fabric.  The fabric line is usually in quilt shops one month later and at this point, the Brand Ambassador has finished making the projects and we receive photos of their work.

Brand Ambassador Program-

The Program: The new Jaftex Brand Ambassador program (formerly the social sewer program) launched in January 2020. We have a wonderful group of passionate fabric fans that love creating projects and enjoy being active on social media. These are quilters and sewers who enjoy sharing their love of this craft on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and/or a personal blog.

Create, Engage, Share: We send the brand ambassadors packages full of fabrics based on their style. We also send tonals and backings. Once the brand ambassadors receive the fabrics, they have one month to complete one major quilt project or at least three smaller projects. What they choose to create is up to them.

In addition to the unique projects that our brand ambassadors create, they share their work on their social media pages. Content includes unboxing videos, progress shots and final project photographs. They are also actively engaged on our social media platforms where they like, comment and share our posts too.

In Quilt Shops Now – Once the fabric has shipped to quilt shops, we receive a lot of photos from shop owners showing off their displays of our fabric and/or kits etc. Additionally, we receive photos and videos from the designers of their fabric and any fun projects they may have or products they are selling in relation to the line. We also post the Brand Ambassadors project photos at this time on the brand pages and my Facebook page. These include unboxing videos, progress shots of the ambassador’s work with the fabric, close-up shots of intricate detail in their work and final project shots of their completed projects. Shortly after that time, we start receiving content from consumers who have made projects with the fabric too. Usually, we find these photos when the consumers have tagged us on Instagram and Facebook. We feature all of these photos on our channels on Monday and Wednesday nights as well as on Saturdays.

Stay tuned for the #SemesterWithScott Final Exam which will be hosted by Brettie 5G and me, Scott 4G on my @jaftexpresident Facebook page. It will take place LIVE, Sunday, December 13th at 4:00 p.m. EST. Plus, we will be testing out some new software where we hope to put viewers like you in the hot seat, on-screen for a rapid-fire question round. Don’t miss it and make sure to study up!
