#SemesterWithScott

Good Evening Students,

I am your fabric professor for “Semester with Scott” which will run through the end of the year. You can call me Scott, El Presidente or Professor Fortunoff.

Have a seat please. Please sit down. Quiet! Ok, enough over there. Hey, hey! Allow me to begin already.

I am sure you heard this one before, but allow me to enlighten you. Look to your left. Look to your right. Half of the people around you will not graduate from this class.

Does that one sound familiar? I think I heard that at least twice in my lifetime and fortunately I wasn’t in the wrong half at any point. Anyway, this will not be the case in my new “Semester with Scott” class series. You will all pass with flying colors if you just attend class on a regular basis, watch the taped versions thereof, pay attention and have fun learning about the awesome textile industry.

In my class, there will be a mid-term and a final exam with details to follow as the semester progresses.

Per usual, with the majority of things that I do on social media, there will be sporadic fabric prizes shared with the masses as the semester proceeds. But while I am giving you fabric and entertaining you with my wit, humor, stories and knowledge attained from my 15 years in the textile industry, you will have the opportunity to get inside of my textile business and creative brain. You in the back, spare me with the wisecracks or I will have to send you to the dean. And yes I do have a brain you little twerp! I digress. Sorry.

This coming Wednesday, October 14 at 7:45 PM Eastern time will be the first class for the semester. The subject for the first class will be the various aspects of designing, how we come up with our collections, all the people involved and sew much more. It will be an expansion of the blog post that I wrote on September 28, 2020, entitled, “How A Fabric Release Is Born.” You can read that post by clicking here.

I hope you can make it to the first class on my @jaftexpresident Facebook page. Please invite all your fabric friends too! If you miss it, don’t worry because it will remain on my page Facebook page indefinitely. I think my social media peeps might even post it to YouTube.

That’s all I have for you this evening. You are all dismissed. See you Wednesday, October 14 at 7:45 PM (EST).

Looking forward to this. My Dad was a textile printer in a finishing plant a long time ago. He died of a heart attack on the job at age 54 in 1973. I am sure he would be amazed at only the changes today.

Wow! I must be suspended or already in detention before classes even start! My comments are no where to be found. 🙁 How can that possibly be? Oh well, I’m still going to be sitting on the front row tomorrow night. :-p

I’m looking forward to learning more about the industry, and am grateful for the opportunity to participate in your class. ?

Thank you, Professor Fortunoff! I am committed to be an enthusiastic and highly motivated student. My goal is to be an honors graduate with exemplary conduct. :~D

Scott your witty humor is just what we need during these trying times. Thank you for all you do for the industry and for us.
And by the way I plan on passing this semester with an “A”.

Yes, I am the trouble maker in the back. I got into sewing by sneaking into my wife’s sewing room. After I left the wrong color bobbin in her machine she suggested I get my own machine. I should also use one of the rooms from the kids that moves out.

Awesome Ed. Always great to have some men in my crew. Try not to cause any trouble during class please.
      Regards,
      Scott

Is drinking allowed during class? This is during my dinner hour so there may be the occasional partaking of spirits.
