Kaffe Fassett Collective August 2023 offers 57 SKUs with re-imagined designs by Kaffe Fassett and new designs from Brandon Mably and Philip Jacobs. And, P.S., if you loved the Big Blooms Quilt, wait until you see the Mediterranean Hexagon Quilt – it is the perfect floral follow-up.

Plenty of Cozy Quilt inspirations feature the new Kaffe Fassett Collective Classic Plus pre-cuts that begin shipping to retailers in March. These very achievable quilts by Daniela Stout will become repeatable favorites. The best part, these new Kaffe Fassett Collective Classic Plus pre-cuts are reorderable through 2024.

The sinister Von Black sisters make a comeback in Night Shade {Déjà vu} by Tula Pink. This yearly revisit gives quilters a new shot at an old collection – with the benefit of 10+ years of Tula’s own growth and color explorations. If you missed the first collection, now is the time to stock up. Shipping in July, is a true “one and done” opportunity.

Meet Seth Apter, a mixed-media artist from New York City. Storyboard (August, Digital) is his first collection and reflects his journey as an artist, in all its layers. Abstract, textural, grungy, distressed, colorfully muted, deeply layered, and filled with text – used as a design element, as an expression of meaning, or as the perfect modern complement to Tim Holtz’s Eclectic Elements. Also, new to FreeSpirit and Conservatory Craft curated by Anna Maria is Harmony by Carolyn Gavin (September). This collection is all about exotic butterflies, peacocks, scarlet macaws and toucans co-existing in a paradise of bouquets and tropical palms, creating a harmonious magical land.

To continue the creative momentum, we have a plethora of digital collections. Watercolor swirls in Enchanted Skies by George Mendoza; the eco-print aesthetic of Nature’s Contours by Katrinka; and organic, modern patterns of waves and tide lines sharing the secrets of Sea Sisters by Shell Rummel, these August deliveries run the gamut from vivid thrills to serene calmness.

Mariana by Rachel Hauer (August), brings to life the wonders of creatures who lurk in the vast depths of the ocean true to Rachel’s keen eye and fine-line detail. The Geo-Gyre quilt and program from Robin Ruth Designs bring these purely intuitive freehand designs together into an artistic quilt simply made with Robin’s ruler system. Exclusive online video tutorials from Robin Long will guide you through the project.

Rounding out January is Floral Pets by Mia Charro (July), which is a tribute to our loyal, fluffy family members — our pets; Water Garden by Sanderson (September), a contemporary interpretation of eastern cultural influences; and Rust & Bloom by Sarah Sczepanski (September), inspired by the beauty of nature with a nod to the evolution of living things, made from her original monotypes.

From the musings of Tula’s sinister sisters to the faithful companionship of your family pet, FreeSpirit Fabrics’ January 2023 release is filled with unique fabrics that call you to gather fabric, dream of ideas and simply create.
