And The Winners of #ScottSentMe2022 Are…..

We just put another year in the books for the #ScottSentMe challenge. Now, I want to chat briefly about this year’s contest, tell you who the winners were and what prizes they will win.

Before I dive in though, I wanted to mention that, aside from the first year, this year we saw much fewer numbers of visits. My guess is that this was due to the economy and the increased cost of fuel among other inflationary pressures.

In the past few years, the winners reached over 200 shops which is pretty unreal if you ask me. This year, the winner went to 127 shops. This is a huge difference from prior years, but no matter how you slice it, for a 3-month period that is a lot of shop visits. This is all due to my half-baked idea to start the #ScottSentMe challenge 5 years ago. Who knew it would generate these types of returns?

Regardless of all that, I would still love for this to become bigger in the future. I still have my work cut out for me, but I won’t give up my efforts. I welcome your help. Thank you in advance.

I take a lot of pride in this contest because it demonstrates Jaftex’s never-ending efforts to get consumers to visit our customers’ shops to buy the stuff that we sell them. This is the same reason that I have agreed to do whatever I can to help the Shop Hop Inc. team and why we agreed to be their perpetual event sponsor. Their goal is exactly the same as our goal which is to get consumers into shops to show them how awesome our industry is and how there are loads of awesome shops allover. My efforts on this front will not cease. That is how we at Jaftex try to differentiate ourselves from everyone else out there. It shows that we try very hard to go the extra mile for our valued customers.

Alright, alright, I know you are anxiously awaiting the details about the winners. Here goes!

  • 1st Place: 127 visits by Diane McCandless. She will win $1250 in credits to her favorite quilt shops.
  • 2nd Place: 120 visits by Stephanie Freud. She will win $850 in credits to her favorite quilt shops.
  • 3rd Place: 106 visits by Kathy Blankeneker. She will win $600 in credits to her favorite quilt shop.
  • 4th Place: 80 visits by Julie Reese. She will win $300 in credits to her favorite quilt shop.
  • 5th Place: 33 visits by Liz Ree. She will win $200 in credits to her favorite quilt shop.

Then we picked 5 random winners. The idea behind this was that not everyone has the ability to get to so many shops for various personal reasons. As such, we got requests to spread the love by selecting random winners too. The bottom line is that we are happy to have as many participants as possible. This helps us get those involved that know that they really have no chance of winning, but want to play nonetheless.

Here is the list of the random winners. They all will win a $125 credit to their favorite quilt shop.

  • Pat Devore.
  • Quilting Mod.
  • Mary Freerks
  • Cheryl Heeth
  • Malena Kee

Congratulations to all of our amazing winners. Thanks to everyone that participated. Thanks to all the shops that promoted the event. Thanks to everyone for helping to spread the word. Thanks for joining the #ScottSentMe2022 Facebook page. Thanks for making it another great year of #ScottSentMe. See you next year!

Scott, I love how you promote the quilting industry! I also love that you picked some random winners! I think you are beyond generous and giving a gift to those that might only make it to a few shops will brighten their day hugely…?

    Congratulations to the winners!
Wishing all the happiest of holidays!

That is very generous of you to give those prizes. Is there some way you could include online shops? I am sure more people have learned to shop the internet. A lot of those online shops are family owned businesses. I pretty much stick to Quilted Twins simply because I truly don’t need any more fabric. LOL I think they do a good job presenting their fabrics and they have also brought Jaftex’s fabric lines to our attention. I don’t think I would have learned about Jaftex in a local quilt shop.

Your comment just gave me an idea. Since the sites that the distributors maintain are usually out of date, you can’t really find which line of fabric is in which shop. How about the local quilt shops keep some kind of a posting either whiteboard or a link on their website so that you know which lines of fabric they carry? This would help in these times of high gas prices and iffy weather.

Thank you so much Scott. I participated the first two years and missed last year due to health issues, but I was glad to do it again this year. A few of the shops from previous years have gone out of business, but some new ones opened up in areas close to me. I love the challenge and all that you do to promote local quilt shops!

I only made it to 3 shops, but visited each one multiple times! If you ever visit Maryland, check out Capital Quilts, Gaithersburg; Spring Waters Designs, Columbia; and G Street, Rockville. Highly recommend these shops! Happy Quilting!

Thank you for all you do for the industry and your consumers! I look forward to this contest every year and enjoy the drives across the states I have visited during the fall, such a beautiful time of year for a drive! I have met many wonderful shop owners, found new fabric designers I wouldn’t have found if I only shopped the few local shops. And not to mention great friends!
